No extra install. This path stays on your Lattuce account.
Steps
1 — Finish compose with cite chips and citation checks
- Open the paper in Compose.
- Keep claims tied to cite chips on attached sources.
- Run citation checks. Fix or remove anything the verifier flags.
Lock a paper-wide citation style (APA, Harvard, Vancouver, and others) before you treat the draft as final — see supported citation formats.
2 — Approve each section in Write
- Open Write (or the section list on the paper).
- Read each section once more.
- Mark it approved when the prose and citations are what you would show faculty.
Unapproved sections stay out of export. That is the gate — academic export needs a decision, not a live shared cursor.
3 — Export to Word (.docx)
- Open Export on the paper.
- Choose Word (.docx).
- Download the file. The bibliography follows the library records you attached and cited.
Need references only? Use bibliography-only export. The chapter file is the usual faculty handoff.
4 — Optional: Format mode for the layout checklist
Export is about cited text. Format mode is a different job: a checklist pass over a Word file (margins, page numbers, spacing) — not another compose step.
- Open the same paper and switch to Format.
- Choose UM Thesis Formatting Checklist (BM/BI) if that is your faculty list.
- Upload the exported
.docx(or a copy you already edited in Word). - Run the check, apply safe fixes on a copy, then download the formatted file.

5 — Open in Word for supervisor tweaks
- Open the
.docxin Microsoft Word. - Confirm pagination, heading styles, and any school-specific front matter.
- Send that file for supervisor comments.
Keep comments in Word. If you will export again from Lattuce, merge wording back by hand.
Key concepts
Section approval is the export gate. Word only includes sections you marked approved in Write.
Citations come from the attached library. Cite chips and the bibliography point at sources on the paper — not at model memory from a chat.
Format mode is not Compose. Compose writes and cites. Format checks layout on an uploaded .docx. Do one, then the other.
